VBS: Volunteers Needed and Registration

Maundy Thursday Service

Easter Services

We will have our Easter Services at 9:00 and 11:00 AM on April 5th.

Children's Easter Performance: Final Practice

Our preschool and elementary children will be performing "Celebration" during our 11am Easter Sunday service on April 5th. Practices for this performance have begun on Sunday mornings during their class. We are sharing the video link for the song and movements! Toddler Play Through the Bible

Toddlers (ages 2-4) and their parents/caregivers are invited to join us for a Play Through the Bible group. We meet monthly, from 12:30-1:30 pm, in the church school building. Play Through the Bible sessions include an age-appropriate Bible lesson, snack, and craft. Parents/caregivers are expected to stay with their toddler for the whole time. Moms Fellowship & Play Group

Our Moms Fellowship & Play group meets every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month, from 10-12 in the school building gymnasium. Wednesday Night Adult Class

J. Warner Wallace, a cold case detective, uses his unique skills and technique in examining a murder case and then takes those same skills and uses them to examine the impact of Jesus on our world Amazon.com : person of interest book and study guide by j warner wallace.

Join us on Wednesday nights for this 10-week study. We will watch a short video and discuss Jesus' impact on that topic. No pressure to have to get the book or the study guide, you are welcome to just come and hang out with us as we discuss our Savior's impact on history. But the more you put in, the more you get out. Wednesday Night Adult Class (Beginning February 18th)

Prayer Meeting

Bruce Michalowski, in conjunction with Pastor Matt of New Life Presbyterian Church, will host a prayer meeting for evangelism from 7 pm to 8 pm on February 19th at New Life Presbyterian Church, 326 Raymaley Rd, Harrison City, PA 15636. The focus will be to seek God's heart for the upcoming evangelism season. But also, for evangelism in general. Prayers for our neighbors, our co-workers, our family members to come to Christ. How do we reach these people with the gospel? It starts by praying for them. There will be a short time of fellowship before and after; this will help us to bond in prayer more effectively. Elementary Students will enjoy Bible (No) Fear Factor game day on Sunday, March 1st, during their usual classroom time. Bible trivia. Dare to spin the wheel and see which unusual food you have to try. Earn a prize. Having a lot of fun together along the way! Because as a Christian, Fear is Not a Factor for me. "Be strong & courageous for the Lord God is with you wherever you go" Joshua 1:9.

We are excited to announce that we will be returning to the Children of Peace Foundation in the Dominican Republic on July 18-25. The cost of the trip is $1500. MS/HS Youth Retreat

Our Middle School and High School students will be going to Camp Allegheny for our Winter Retreat from February 20-22. The cost of the retreat is $110 but we are offering an Early Bird Special of $100 for students who sign up before February 4th. In addition, we are offering $5 off for siblings. Christmas Eve Services

Children’s Christmas Performance

Our Children’s Christmas performance will take place this Sunday, December 21, at 11:00 AM. The Happy Birthday Jesus party will follow in the children’s classrooms.

Christmas Meal Baskets

We are pleased to share that distribution for our Christmas meal baskets has begun today. Please join us in praying that Christ is lifted high in our interactions with our friends and neighbors.

Boutique Help Tonight

Tonight is the last Wednesday the boutique is open for 2025 - and we could really use a few extra hands! We have toys to give away and lots of clothes to sort, so we can get caught up for the New Year. Please come if you are available! 6:45-8:00 PM.

Tonight is our final all church Wednesday night until January 13th.

BOLD Lunch

We are going to push back our BOLD ladies' lunch in December. Our next lunch will be held on Thursday, December 11th, at 12:00 p.m. at the Cracker Barrel restaurant located in New Stanton. If any questions, please contact Patty Sanderson at 724-396-1809.

Saturation Saturday

Our next Saturation Saturday will be held on Saturday, December 13th, starting at 6:30 PM. This informal evening of Spirit-filled worship and prayer will be held open house style in the church basement so feel free to show up and leave at any time. Advent

Advent is a season designed for stepping away from the often-frantic pace that characterizes this time of year. It offers us an opportunity to embrace a slower rhythm, take a moment to breathe, and refocus on the profound love and goodness of God. Each year, we plan an activity for families to celebrate the season of Advent. Advent family devotionals are available in the sanctuary and in the Elementary Room.

Christmas Food Baskets

We will be providing Christmas Food Baskets again this year to anyone who has a need. The contents of the basket are for a Christmas meal. If you or someone you know, would benefit from a basket please contact Kim Hidalgo at khidalgo@churchrefuge.com by December 7 and provide the number of people who will be served by the meal. Baskets will be available in mid-December.

Children’s Christmas Performance

Our children's special performance will be held on Sunday, December 14th at 11:00 AM. Please practice singing Away in a Manger at home.

Neighborhood Christmas Outreach

We will deliver sweet treats to our neighbors immediately following the 11:00 AM service on Sunday, December 14. Please plan to join us as we continue our Christmas tradition.

Celebration of Life Service

The Celebration of Life Service for Alan Gross will be held at Refuge on Saturday, December 6th, at 3:00 PM. Please continue to pray for all who loved Pastor Alan. You can find his obituary here.

Meals for the Gross Family

Instead of a formal meal registry, Corri is suggesting that food be dropped off at Carol's, 805 Willman Street, North Versailles, which can be put out for family and friends who stop by. Suggested items include casseroles, hoagies/sandwiches, soups, salads, or take-out gift cards.

Delmont Christmas Pilgrimage

As we prepare our hearts for the upcoming Advent season, there are 2 incredible opportunities for families, friends, and neighbors to experience the Christmas story in a powerful, hands-on way.

The Traditional Delmont Christmas Pilgrimage will take place on Saturday, December 6th, from 5-9pm, and Sunday, December 7th, from 5-8pm. This beloved event, for over 50 years, begins at Shield’s Farm Historic Log Cabin. Upon stepping outside, you will walk the field and encounter eight live-action scenes portraying the Christmas story. On the approximately 30-minute guided journey, you will witness Mary and Joseph’s encounters with angels, their travels to Bethlehem, and the Good News being told to shepherds and wisemen, before you rejoice in Christ's birth in a stable.

Live animals, dramatic music, and soft lighting abound at this unforgettable event. Five Delmont churches feature different activities and food. Before / after your Pilgrimage journey at Shield's Farm, you are free to ride the free shuttle buses to participating churches around town to enjoy their hospitality, food, and seasonal entertainment. It’s a beautiful, sacred experience for youth, adults, and older children—a time to slow down, reflect, and truly connect with the reason we celebrate. The Traditional Pilgrimage brings Scripture to life in a moving and memorable way. Pilgrimage Junior - Delmont Christmas Pilgrimage’s newest event,— a Christmas celebration created just for preschool and elementary-aged children and their families This event will be held on Sunday, December 7th from 3-5pm.

So, what is Pilgrimage Junior? First—it’s engaging. This is not your typical sit-and-watch kind of event. Pilgrimage Junior is an interactive journey, where children get to experience the Christmas story in a way that is realistic, meaningful, and unforgettable. It's all about bringing the story of Jesus' birth to life for our youngest hearts and minds. It is also immersive. Families will follow the Angel Gabriel along a paved path, journeying all the way to Bethlehem. Along the way, you will encounter live-action scenes where your children will meet people like Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds—and hear the story of Christ’s birth. Comfy shoes are recommended for this walk—this is a pilgrimage after all! Kids will meet lots of live animals; sheep, goats, donkeys, cows, and even camels. There will be petting opportunities during parts of the event, and don’t miss the Mary and Joseph station, where you can take photos with a real donkey—great photo ops for the whole family! Looking to make your day even more special? Before or after your Pilgrimage Junior experience, families are invited to enjoy extra festive activities designed especially for kids and families! Stop by Faith Global Methodist Church for a heartwarming “Happy Birthday, Jesus” celebration, complete with complimentary treats and joy-filled fellowship—a meaningful reminder of the true reason for the season. Then, head over to Trinity United Church of Christ and attend their “Star of Wonder” festival, where kids can enjoy games, prizes, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Be sure to also check out the enchanting model train displays - a delight for guests of all ages!

Guests will park at one of our participating churches in Delmont, where shuttle buses will transport you to the Cabin at Shield’s Farm for your scheduled experience.
Please plan to arrive at the shuttle stop at least 30 minutes before your ticketed time to ensure a smooth check-in and to make sure you don’t miss a moment of the magic!

We will be participating in Operation Christmas Child this year. Samaritan’s Purse sends gift-filled Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to children in need around the world, together with the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Mary Michalowski is leading the effort. Shoeboxes will be available this Sunday and need to be returned before November 9th. Toddler Play Through the Bible

Toddlers (ages 2-4) and their parents/caregivers are invited to join us for a Play Through the Bible group. meet from 12:30 to 1:30 PM, in the church school building. Play Through the Bible sessions include an age-appropriate Bible lesson, snack, and craft. Parents/caregivers are expected to stay with their toddler for the whole time. Youth Corn Maze

Our youth (MS/HS) are headed to Lonesome Valley Farms for the non-haunted corn maze on Wednesday, October 15, at 6:30 PM. The cost is $10 cash plus any additional money for the concession stand. We will meet at the church at 6:00 PM, or parents can drop their kids off at the farm at 6:30 PM. The goal is to return to the school building around 9 PM. Women's Online Bible Study

Our online bible study meets on Tuesday nights from 7:00 – 8:30 PM and will begin on September 16th. The group will begin studying the Book of Hebrews. The book of Hebrews was written to people in crisis. They were persecuted, tempted by the rampant sin around them, and doubting their faith in Jesus. It was not so different than what many of us go through today. Join Dr. Derwin Gray in this eight-session series as he walks through Hebrews, teaching us how to live for Jesus in every season of life. Hebrews shows us that Jesus is better than anything the world can offer. Women's Group

Our Thursday morning women’s group meets on Thursday mornings from 9:30 – 11:00 AM in the church basement. We will begin a new study, Isaiah Striving Less and Trusting More, on Thursday, September 18th. Following God isn’t about striving; it’s about trusting. As you study the chapters Isaiah wrote—from his challenging words to the nation of Israel to his prophecies of the Messiah to come—learn to rest in God's promises and grow in trust. In this study, Isaiah’s words will reveal that you can trust God more than your own human effort or the counterfeits the world suggests. You won’t be striving harder, but instead trusting more deeply the Faithful One who is so worthy of our utter dependence. In Him you'll find the comfort and peace you need to sustain you. GriefShare is moving to Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11:30 beginning on September 9. This year’s semester runs until December 9. GriefShare is for anyone grieving the death of a loved one. While everyone’s response to loss is unique, people facing loss and grief will experience many of the same challenges. The weekly GriefShare topics address these common struggles—providing valuable tips, encouragement, direction, and a sense of community. For more information, contact griefshare@churchrefuge.com. Wednesday Night Adult Class – Identity Crisis: Who Am I?

Our adult class will begin on September 10th. How would you answer the question "Who am I?" “Who am I?” can be answered in many ways depending on the context - personal, philosophical, psychological, spiritual, social, or practical. Even spiritual can have many different answers. Nevertheless, depending on how you answer this question will determine how you will live your life.

For a child of God, identification must be viewed as our complete union with Jesus. In this class we will be dealing with the almost unknown fact of our identification with Christ. Using scripture we will unveil who we are in Christ and how the Father sees us in the Son. We will explore the mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made known to his saints… We will uncover what it means to put on the new man and a great deal more.
